Assistant Referee Course

Often the first step in to becoming a referee is to become an Assistant Referee (AR), more commonly known as a linesman.
The main role of the Assistant Referee is to signal ‘OFFSIDE’ and with more and more clubs now paying players to be assistant referees to run the lines for their teams freeing up the coaches to coach and parents to support we want to ensure the offside law is known.
There will be a 1 hour Assistant Referee course run on Tuesday  28 March 2023 at 6pm in the clubrooms.
It is for anyone to attend especially if you intend to have a go at running the lines. Players, coaches and parents are also free to attend if they wish to get a better appreciation and understanding of why decisions are made on the field.
Straight afterwards at 7pm there will be a short referee meeting for all those refereeing in the forthcoming season. There we will discuss the Respect Program and the Sin Bin which is part of the junior rules. Anyone that is new to refereeing and wanting to get started in refereeing the 10’s and 11’s are also encouraged to attend.
We will also touch on what our association encourages and expects from our coaches and referees.
Presidents of clubs are more than welcome to attend so they are fully aware of what our association tells our referees so it can be relayed to club coaches.
