Often the first step in to becoming a referee is to become an assistant referee, more commonly known as a linesman.
The main role of the assistant referee is to signal ‘OFFSIDE’ and with more and more clubs now paying players to be assistant referees to run the lines for their teams freeing up the coaches to coach and parents to support we want to ensure the offside law is known.
There will be a 1 hour Assistant Referee course run on Wednesday 1st April at 5:30pm in the clubrooms.
It is for anyone to attend especially if you intend to have a go at running the lines. Players, coaches and parents are also free to attend if they wish to get a better appreciation and understanding of why decisions are made on the field.
Straight afterwards at 6:30pm there will be a short information session for all those wishing to progress into referees and start to get paid.
At 7pm there will be a meeting for all existing covering how the season will run plus the new rule changes.
